Perry was surfing off the East Side of Oahu when he was attacked

Tamayo Perry, an actor and surfer who appeared in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, died on Sunday afternoon after being attacked by a shark while surfing off the East Side of Oahu.
Perry, 49, was a well-known surfer and lifeguard who was known for his brave and audacious surfing skills. He was also an eight-year veteran of Honolulu Ocean Safety.
Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi released a statement expressing his condolences to Perry's family and friends.
"Tamayo was a beloved member of our community and a true waterman," Blangiardi said. "He will be deeply missed by all who knew him."
